I hold a Bachelor of Business Management with a concentration in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington. I first developed an interest in finance while working at Fidelity Investments at twenty-years-old. After incredible success as an individual agent, I launched L Hamilton Financial Planning, LLC, in 2012, acutely focusing on employer-provided retirement plans for K-12 employees. Throughout my tenure, my book of business has surpassed multi-million dollar production--a feat only possible by maintaining a 98% retention rate. From the outset of my agency’s formation, I have been honored with numerous awards and accolades nationwide, including being routinely recognized as top producer by multiple insurance companies. Though I still personally service clients, I am also the managing agent of my financial planners and property and casualty insurance agents. Our agency continues to integrate new financial and insurance services to better assist our clientele- whether educators or other professionals- in whatever their future holds for them. Laura Hamilton, President/CEO Meet the LHAMILTONTeam 4908 Lexington Square STE 100 | Amarillo | 806.367.9756 | www.lhamiltonfp.com I was born in Waco, TX, but have lived in Amarillo for nearly my whole life. After graduating high school in 2015, I attended West Texas A&M and graduated in 2019 with a degree in marketing and finance. I accepted a promotion as office manager at L Hamilton Financial Planning this past summer and bring into the office every day passion for our clients’ financial futures. My daily responsibilities require flexibility in time and task management and my leadership, creativity, and communication skills help me execute my workload with excellence. While my work with the agency is rewarding, I enjoy making memories with my family and friends during my time away from the office. I am a hardworking and professional veteran of the U.S. Air Force, after serving ten years on active duty. My military service provided a decade of leadership skills, task and personnel management, and organizational experience--key components to my role as a financial planner with L Hamilton Financial Planning. My educational achievements include two undergraduate degrees and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University. I am passionate about personal finance and helping teachers and other district employees prepare for a successful retirement. I am well-versed in our agency’s retirement plan options and carefully examine how each suits my clients’ individual needs. My years as a public servant and as a private sector employee have developed in me professionalism, punctuality, and the tenacity I offer to my clientele on a daily basis. Andrew Wilson, Financial Planner I officially moved to Amarillo in March of 2020 from San Antonio, TX. I previously worked as a 10th grade assistant teacher at North Heights Alternative High school in the Amarillo ISD alternative education program. There I had the opportunity of working with the CORE teachers of each class period, providing students assigned to the program instruction and specialized care. I am now attending Amarillo College to continue my education with a degree in Communications and Finance. I surpass expectations by providing individual attention to each client’s needs and personal goals, applying my passion for finding and accomplishing solutions to the world of insurance. Being attentive with intention allows me to passionately and proficiently serve my clients as I proactively address situational details with next-level excellence. I maintain a strong desire to help others and pursue lasting relationships with my clients in order to meet their financial needs, specifically their Property and Casualty financial needs. Even amidst obstacles, I remain patient, focused, energetic, and disciplined--all necessary traits to offer my clients the service they deserve. IsabelHart, Property & Casuality Insurance Agent I graduated from West Texas A&M in 2017 with a Bachelors in General Studies and an emphasis in Education. Teaching for four years at Canyon ISD and Amarillo ISD led me to discover my passion for helping teachers plan their financial futures through retirement, life insurance, and financial planning. I joined L Hamilton Financial Planning in 2018 and find it rewarding to walk alongside teachers and other district employees as they purpose to surpass their future financial goals. Having previously walked in their shoes, I better understand teachers’ needs and expectations from me as their financial planner. My teaching experience further provides my clients and me commonality that they may not usually anticipate in a financial planner. Whether an educator or otherwise, it is an honor to help my clients build their financial future and that they have trusted me with this privilege. I value the family atmosphere that our office and financial planners exude and look forward to meeting new clients daily, helping meet their needs and building a lasting relationship with them. 13 hometown living at its best ome meteorologists report the weather. Then there’s the legend, DanTrue, a pioneer inMeteorology, an author, a naturalist and a great man. He soared beyond the weather, opened nature's doors, slipped into our hearts, and taught us all to fly free, especially his children. He became a major influence in the lives of Panhandle families in the 1950s. Over the decades, the Amarillo weatherman became our hero warning us of storms and infusing his love of nature within all of us. There have been many articles and interviews about True, however, to see the heart of this Panhandle icon, one needs to see him through the eyes of a daughter. Recently, I had the pleasure of getting toknowDanTrue’sdaughter, Teresa (Teesh)TrueLawler, a realtor andprominent citizenof the area. Teeshandher sisters, DawnandTerri, were visitingwith their dad, sharingmemories and love. Dan True raised six children, inspired decades of “True” fans and became the surrogate mother and father for a hatching Golden Eagle.
14 amarillo living magazine Born in Nashville, Tennessee on December 8, 1924, True grew up in Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana andNewMexico. “My dadwas a driller for Standard Oil,” True said. “I don’t remember how many times we moved, but by 18, I attended thirty-four schools to get through all twelve grades.” In 1939 Germany invaded Europe, and Japan swept into the Philippines—theWorld was at war. True’s comments about the war are few. When asked he usuallywill segue into flying. “I was a ‘child soldier.’ After the war, I was dischargedwith the rank of Master Sergeant, and worked as a flight instructor, charter pilot and crop-duster." College for True included Kansas State Teacher's College; John Brown University; University of Illinois; University of Oklahoma; Amarillo College; and the University of NewMexico. About 1948, he was still flying as a crop duster in a tiny, little town where he saw the weather report on a TV. “I said, ‘Self, I could do that!” “In 1950Dadmet BettyKrauel, ourmom, inDanville, Illinois,” Teesh said. “At the timemomwas dating Gene Hackman, who was just beginning his acting career. He was gone for the summer when she met daddy and they married very soon after.” True dreamed of being a pilot and applied to the airlines. Central Airlines decided they’d like to hire him, but they didn’t have an opening for a pilot at that time. Instead, they hiredhimon as a ticket agent, then promoted him to Amarillo as a district sales manager. The television stations were all brand new and True had a federal license to teach meteorology to pilots, so he applied for weekend weather with KGNC in Amarillo. By the time Central Airlines had an opening for a pilot, True really liked television, but had wanted to be an airline pilot since he was six. He explained, “I thought about that for three days and three nights. GROW I NG U P W I T H GROW I NG U P W I T H legend

As apioneer in television weather, True invented the role of "stormchaser" ashe circled tornadoes inhis privateplane. He produced and hosted a nature show, documentary films and authored books on nature in the Palo Doro Canyon. All the while raising six children, inspiring decades of TV viewers, and being a surrogatemother and father for a Golden Eagle. “Daddy loves the research he has done on eagles, hummingbirds and roadrunners,” Teesh explained. “Growing up we had two eagles, Lucy and Sandoes. We got Lucy’s name from the Beatles song, “Lucy in GROW I NG U P W I T H GROW I NG U P W I T H legend “In his 90s

It’s difficult to imagine how he had time to compete in his demanding career as a television meteorologist. Teesh remembered a time her dad had a difficult decision and made a huge sacrifice. “Dad was offered a position with ABC-TV in New York, but we would have had to move. The six of us were in school. Amarillo was home. I think he didn’t want us to be uprooted. He turned ABC down, so we could grow up here.” When asked about the best time with their dad, True’s daughters, Dawn, Terri and Teesh answered almost in unison, “The Texas Honor Flight of 2018.” Teesh added, “All of us girls flew with him to Washington. It was a real ‘trip.’” Dan True currently lives in Clovis, New Mexico, with his wife of twenty-two years, Diane, and dog Dexter. “If you ask him, he will tell you that Dexter is the smartest dog in the world,” Teesh said. “Dad still comes to Amarillo often to visit us. My sisters, Dawn Ames and her husband Lance and Terri Welch and her husband Tex, live inAmarillo. My husband, Jay and I live inUmbarger. My youngest brother, Todd, andhiswife, Melissa, live in Sylva, South Carolina. Dad’s stepchildren, Ben and Sarah Goldbaum live in Clovis. Dad has thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He lost two of his children in tragic circumstances, his oldest Greg in 1969, Jeff in 2015 and grandsonMichael in 2016.” Dan True's legacy is best seen in his nature TV series and his documentarymovies. The book, Flying Free, is the unique story of Lucy and her human, Dan True. Other books are A Family of Eagles and Hummingbirds of North America: Attracting, Feeding, and Photographing, available on Amazon.com. “Inhis90s,Dadisstillpassingdownhis loveandrespect fornatureandtheenvironment” Teesh added. “He understood we need to co-exist with nature and the importance of a balanced eco-system.” †

Since 1943, the hard-working students led by the Student Government at AHS have raised over 20,000 cans of food plus over $10,000 in donations for perishable food to feed the foster children loved at the Amarillo Children’s Home (ACH). The canned goods alone will provide food for a year for approximately 100 children plus their House Parents who l ive on campus. 32 amarillo living magazine WOMEN YOU SHOULD KNOW OUR BEGINNING: We opened our doors 6 years ago ... there were no lines or people camping outside. At the end of the day, Mom and I had $87 in sales. We’ve grown a bit since then, but my idea is the same: Make breakfast a thing, have fun with the menus, honor classic and country roots ... we call it “The Girasol Way.” We have fun with the pastry case offering seven of our classics daily, but toss in the occasional French Apple Custard Tart, Peffernuse Cheesecake, or something new we want to try. OUR DIFFERENCE: We focus on sourcing wild and clean ingredients, local when possible and we are still a scratch cafe. We use real butter, real cream, McC Farms Eggs, and make sure there’s no msg or soy oils to give you fresh, quality products. We make every loaf of bread, quiche crust, pie dough, fruit filling, jellies, salad dressing, sauce, soup and cake layer with our own hands. OUR FUTURE: We love showcasing our team and specialties with Summer Series Dinners. This year will bring another series, so keep your eye on our Facebook page for details! We will definitely do another German Night featuring our hand ground and stuffed sausages. People ask every day when we will get a larger space...I’m not opposed but really enjoy what we’ve built and hope you do, too! The patio is established and is fairly secluded with a nice balance of kittens and birds...If you’ve been in, you know! 35 hometown living at its best OUR BEGINNING: I saw a need for the midwifery model of care for the women of the Panhandle when receiving maternity care. The midwifery model of care sees pregnancy as a normal process in a woman’s life instead of a disease process as it is treated in the medical model of care. I also wanted to provide a safe option for community-based births. When women have healthy pregnancies, a community-based birth is a very safe option. I started my home birth practice in 2016 and that led to the opening of the birth center in 2018. OUR DIFFERENCE: I follow the midwifery model of care therefore, I have clients, not patients. My clients receive individualized care that is based on informed choice. The care is emphasized on education, nutrition, and self-care. I walk with them in their journey. My three goals during our journey are to fully educate my clients about the childbirth process, for them to deliver in the safest place for both mother and baby, and to be their biggest cheerleader. OUR FUTURE: I want to grow midwifery in the Panhandle. My goal is that every woman who wishes to have midwifery care, is able to have a midwife. FREE ADVICE: Guidelines are established to provide a guide for your provider, they are not set to be used universally in everyone’s care. Ask why screens or tests are done and ask if there is an alternative to the standard testing. Just because you are 36 weeks does not mean you need to have weekly cervical exams. Become informed of your options. Beyond Birth Midwifery Silvia Garbalena-Esparza 5503 SW 9th Avenue | Suite A | Amarillo | 806.437.1537 | beyondbirthmidwifery.com

45 hometown living at its best OUR BEGINNING: I got my start with State Farm working for an agent in Lubbock as a sales representative right out of college in 1998. I loved it and began working hard toward the goal of owning my own agency. In 2003, I opened my first State Farm agency in Clovis, NM. State Farm then asked me to join the corporate leadership team managing territories of other agents throughout West Texas. I loved helping other State Farm agents build their businesses, but my passion was working directly with customers so in 2013, I returned to agency here in Amarillo. I love being a part of this community and building relationships with customers and other business owners. We treat them like family and take time to educate our customers about their policies and help them choose the right plan according to their goals, needs, and budget. 48 amarillo living magazine WOMEN YOU SHOULD KNOW OUR BEGINNING: Upon relocating to the Texas Panhandle, I quickly found that there is a large gap in service offerings and education regarding therapeutic massage with only one or two true medical massage trained practitioners in the area. I made a commitment to change this! OUR DIFFERENCE: What sets us apart from other massage establishments or spas is that we focus on therapeutic massage. WE focus on YOU ... on helping you to get results vs just relaxing. Our mission is to work with you to help you move better, reduce pain, to determine the cause of discomfort, and then address the cause through various massage modalities and movement activities that can be performed at work and home. We can gladly work with other medical providers to create a treatment plan that fits your life and your budget. We are the ONLY massage establishment in Amarillo to offer infrared sauna.
